Work permits

Renew it before the old one runs out

A permit that lapses can cost a job. Gerardo counts back from your expiration date and files early.

Different cases carry different permits, and each has its own window for renewing. At the first meeting we map yours, put the dates in writing and file with room to spare.

What we file

  • DACA renewals

  • Work permits while a green card case is pending

  • Work permits for people with a pending asylum case

  • TPS registration and renewal

  • Work visas, when an employer will sponsor the worker

  • Replacing a lost permit or fixing an error on one

Timing

When each one has to be filed

The rules change, so we check the current ones before we count.

  • DACA

USCIS asks for renewals months before the card expires. We count back from your date.

  • A pending green card

The permit can come after you file the application, and it needs a renewal of its own.

  • TPS

Designations change by country and by court ruling. We check the current one first.

  • Employer visas

Your employer files, and we prepare the worker's side of the petition.

Work permits, asked and answered

Can I work while my case is pending?

Sometimes. Some pending cases allow a work permit once you file, and others don't. We tell you before you apply.

What if my permit expires before the new one arrives?

Some renewals extend your work authorization for a while, and some don't. Tell us your date as soon as you know it.

Do you also work with employers?

When an employer sponsors a worker, the employer brings us the job details and we prepare the petition. The worker is told in plain words what is being filed for them.

What's the date on your card?

Text or call with the expiration date, and we'll tell you when the filing window opens.

Please don't send confidential details by text.
